Halloween 2012 was as eventful as ever with school costume parades, class parties, pumpkin carving, and of course, trick or treating. Here’s some highlights:

 

 

Here are all the Reeses Sam accumulated. He is still hoarding them. In this neighborhood many more people handed out full size candy bars and our kids went crazy for them. Good times were had and Mom and Dad collected a fair tax. Except we should tax those Reeses more.

Spookfest, Pumpkins and Cookies

Happy Halloween! The kids are home from school after having their costume parades and class parties. They already have consumed a boatload of sugar and we haven’t even started trick-or-treating yet. Will they ever go to bed tonight? We will see.

Here are more highlights from our weekend pre-Halloween activities. Friday night we attended the Spookfest at the elementary school. We ate a chili dinner then played all of the carnival-style games and walked through the spook alley in the school library.

We finally carved pumpkins last night. I think this is the first year Sam and Abby almost completely carved their own pumpkins. And we also baked some Halloween cookies for Kaitlyn’s preschool class party.

In just another hour or so our doorbell will start ringing. We get hundreds of trick-or-treaters in our neighborhood. We usually just sit outside because it is so much easier than answering the door constantly. Our kids are so excited they can’t stand it. The sky looks a little threatening with rainclouds, but hopefully it will stay dry. At least it isn’t snowing!

The Many Days of Halloween

Remember when Halloween used to be one day? What happened? We’ve started calling it the 7 days of Halloween, because that’s what it feels like with all of the town events, parties, school events, and then the actual trick-or-treating. Today we had 2 school events. This afternoon both Abby’s class and Sam’s classes went to Hemming Village (a small shopping center in town) for Halloween activities. I chaperoned Abby’s class and we walked with all of the 2nd graders (it was only a few blocks away). Here were some highlights:

Great jack-o-lanterns, huh? There was a whole street with them lined up. Tonight we also went to the Spookfest at the elementary school. More about that tomorrow. We are already feeling Halloween crash and we still have a few days to go.
