One Crazy Summer: Our Last Days in Rexburg

The kids spent a lot of time playing outside while Mike and I were packing and working on the house. They played everyday with their neighborhood friends and saying goodbye to them was the hardest part.

Our last night in Idaho was not in Rexburg, but at at hotel in Idaho Falls. With all of our beds on the moving truck there wasn’t much choice. It turned out to be fun. The hotel we randomly booked online was right across the street from the Idaho Falls falls. The kids enjoyed the pool and hot tub too.

After we left the hotel, we went back to the house and finished cleaning. That afternoon we said our final goodbyes to friends and to our house and drove to Orem, Utah to start the next chapter of our lives. Moving is hard, but we are trying to teach our kids that life is an adventure and there are new friends and new opportunities ahead. And until they make new friends, they always have each other.

We are saying goodbye to our house here in Rexburg. It was a miracle it sold so quickly (just 16 days). We can now focus on packing and getting ready for moving day which is only about 2 1/2 weeks away now. We will miss our neighborhood and many things about our house – including our great playhouse and our raspberries. It is hard to invest so much time and money into something and leave it behind. But we are excited about our move to Orem, Utah. We are experienced at moving and starting over. This will be our 5th state in 11 years we’ve been married. We are hoping this will be our last area and the next house we buy will be one we live in for a long long time.

In Case You Don’t Know, We’re Moving to Provo…

…well, technically we are moving to Orem but apparently if I walk down the street a block, I will be in Provo. And Mike will be working in Provo as the newest faculty member in the Theater and Media Arts Department at BYU. We are very excited for the opportunities this move will bring for Mike’s career and our family. Now we just have to get through the moving part. We are busy packing and donating and fixing and cleaning out the house. We will be moving some things down to Orem in a couple of weeks but we won’t completely move until August.

I haven’t been taking very many pictures lately so here are some more of our vacation to St. George. This is the last week of school so we are  also busy with end-of-the-year events and I will have my camera ready for those things.

We are also happy to be closer to this place. We hope to spend some long weekends in St. George next winter.
